Comfortable verses Unfamilar

What if you had to choose between something comfortable and something umfamilar? Which would you choose?

The comfortable thing is "something" that you know a lot about and have had with you through every experience you have gone through. It is "something" that makes you feel safe and loved. You feel like this "something" is a big part of who you are today but you still wonder what it would be like to not have it. You wonder if your life would be better or worse and you ponder the idea of leaving this "something" but are afraid of the change and the unknown. Now say the comfortable thing changed? Say some how it's just not the same anymore. In fact say this "something" got better or say it got worse. Then what?

The unfamilar holds wonder and mystery. There is the road of getting to know this "something". It could lead to great things and then again, maybe not. Do you take the risk? Say if you choose this path and you knew it would send your comfy thing away. Would you still choose this one? With this "something" you are not sure how you feel about it but the thought of it becoming something that means more to you then the comfy thing ever did adds a little excitment. Say that, as for the comfy thing, your feelings for it had been locked away or forgotten that you are no longer sure what is means to you anymore.

My questions are........do you let go of what you know and embrace what might be, could be? It may be one of the hardest and most hurtful things that you have ever done but it just might end up being the best thing you could have done for you and for others.
Do you take that risk or do you retreat into what is safe and comfy? Do you give up control and give it to God? After all he knows what is best for you and he is your strength. You can have anything and do anything in him. But remember not everthing you want is what he wants for you.

Remember what it says in Philippians 4:13
I (we)can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Most people who claim to fear failure are actually afraid of sucess, because success opens up things that are new and possibly frightening. Lack of trying is a failure, but it's a comfortable one with the illusion of control.

And sometimes the uncertain is the comfortable. Sometimes we're running, changing everything, just because running is easier than staying still.

'Let go and let God' isn't easy.

'Two roads diverged in a wood and I --
I took the one less travelled by
And that has made all the difference.' (Robert Frost).

Sometimes I wonder if comfort isn't a dangerous thing, if it doesn't lead to complacency. Sometimes we need to take that risk, even when we don't want to. At the same time, we don't need to travel blind. We don't always need to jump off the cliff... sometimes it's better to use a rope.

That's a tough one. On one hand you like where you are and don't really want to go away from the comfort. On the other hand you know that God will keep it at the surface until you deal with it.
Handing something over to God is one of the toughest things I can do. It is saying that I have given up and given the control over to someone else. No longer having the control and being able to plan how I want it and how it should be done. No matter how you may plan if it is not God's way it won't work out. No matter how hard you try.
God will support you. It is okay to step out of the comfort, just listen to what God may be saying.
As to choosing something comfortable or something unfamiliar I would go with the comfortable, that is just the way it has been done for so long. Then again, the unfamiliar could be a journey that brings us closer to God and just the thought of being even closer to God makes me giddy and smile with pride.
